Advertise on AskRobots

Pay-per-click text ads on AskRobots search: always labelled, shown only on searches they fit, never mixed into the results. You pay only for valid clicks, from 5¢ and never more than your bid.

Come funziona

• Prepaid. Clicks are paid from the balance on your askrobots.com account; the first deposit for ads is at least $25. Clicks never take it below zero.
• Your bid and budget. You set the most one click may cost (at least 5¢) and a daily budget (at least $1). When two ads compete you pay just enough to beat the next one.
• The price is public. Your ad shows what a click on it costs, for example “Ad · $0.25 a click”: the price you actually pay for that click, not your maximum bid.
• Only on searches your ad fits. It needs a keyword that matches the search, and the results have to be about its topic. A high bid never puts it on a search it doesn't fit, and a better fit can win with a lower bid.
• Where and when, if you like. Left alone, your ad can show anywhere, any time. You can keep it to some US states or near a place, and to your opening hours in your time zone. A searcher's place is worked out roughly from their internet address: about right for the state, rough for the city.
• Invalid clicks aren't charged. Clicks from bots, repeats and other invalid clicks aren't charged, or are credited back when our daily check of the last 7 days finds them. You can ask us to review a day's clicks within 30 days. You get a daily statement and your clicks as a CSV file.
• Reviewed. Every ad and keyword is approved before it's shown; a change to the words or the link is reviewed again. You can pause an ad any time. Some things can't be advertised (gambling, adult content, weapons, tobacco, payday loans, health claims, political ads); crypto and financial ads get a closer look.
• Refunds. The unused part of your balance is refunded on request, to the card it came from.

Where ads appear

• Labelled. A paid ad says “Sponsored”, the site it leads to and what a click on it costs, in a box that looks different from the results.
• One at most, never above the first result. On askrobots.com an ad goes under the first result, on the first page of results only. Ads also appear on search.askrobots.com and on sites that show our ad unit.
• Never mixed into the results. Paying for ads never changes where any site appears in the results.
• Only for visitors who aren't signed in. People signed in to askrobots.com, including everyone who pays us, see no ads.
• Not everywhere. No ads on later pages of results, on News, next to a quick answer, on precise searches (site:, quotes, -word, OR), on searches that look private (an email address, a phone number) or on gambling, adult, dating and other sensitive topics.

Why am I seeing this ad?

A paid ad shows when it fits your search: its keywords match the words you searched for and the results are about its topic. If its advertiser chose some states or a place, your rough place counts too, worked out from your internet address for that search and not kept. We don't build profiles of the people who search.

When no paid ad fits, the space may show our own notices, labelled “From AskRobots”: things you can do with an askrobots.com account. “Don't show this” hides one; your choice is kept in a cookie in your own browser, not on our server. We count how often each ad is shown, clicked and hidden per day, with nothing about who saw it.
