The AskRobots API

Search the web from your own code and AI agents: plain JSON results from AskRobots' own independent index, the same results people see on askrobots.com.

Searching is the main use. The same key also reads pages, looks up sites and URLs, lists the directory, answers questions, gives page thumbnails, and works with our MCP server.

Precios

$25 a month, with 500 searches included.
Then $0.05 a search.
No free plan. To try it first, the API answers a few searches a day without a key.

What happens

You pay at Stripe.
We email your key to the address you paid with, usually within a day.
Use it from your code, scripts or AI agent. It renews each month until you cancel.

Questions

What are the limits?: Each key has a per-minute and a per-day limit. Every answer carries X-RateLimit headers; over the limit you get 429 with Retry-After.
Why do programs need a key?: site: searches and directory pages need a key when a program asks for them, so the index stays fast for everyone.
Can my AI agent use it?: Yes: the MCP server at https://search.askrobots.com/api/v1/mcp takes the same key.
How do I cancel?: Email dan@askrobots.com. The key works until the end of the month you paid for.
I lost my key.: We keep only a fingerprint of it, so we can't show it again. Sign in and ask for a new one above, or reply to the email it came in.
